PIM Assessment
The Problem Statement:
A regional appliance retailer was re-platforming their ecommerce platform to add additional functionality. During the course of that project, their existing PIM implementation was questioned for how it was being managed and the data queality within it. TrailBreakers was asked to perform a PIM assessment to ensure their PIM was following industry best practices and to make recommendations to ensure a smooth transition to their new ecommerce platform.
The Solution:
TrailBreakers validated many aspects of the implementation, which was mostly self-installed by the client. TrailBreakers recommended the following:
- Data Model – Although the data model was built to handle main use cases, tweaks were recommended to handle warranties, services, and other repositiries. An analysis and cleanup of legacy attribution was also recommended, as some of the existing attribution was no longer used but creating noise in the UI experience.
- Process Design – TrailBreakers found that the workflow functions were not being used, as the self-implementation didn’t include building an understanding of the fucntionality or the use case. TrailBreakers designed two process flows based on product types, and helped implement those processes in the PIM platform.
- Integration Mapping – TrailBreakers assisted in mapping the outbound integration to the new ecommerce platform to ensure attribute coverage for the new ecommerce experience.
- Support – TrailBreakers provides ongoing support for new business initiatives, new user training, and support for both platform and non-platform challenges.
The Results:
The customer was able to implement their new ecommerce platform with the confidence that their product data was in order, mapped to the correct fields, and with a process that made a longer-term growth strategy for additional assortments, services, and syndication possible.
