Ongoing PIM Staff Augmentation
The Problem Statement:
A furniture company that deals in high-end furnishings for businesses and designers had a PIM implementation that needed to be supported long-term. They determined this maintenance was not a full time position, and therefore could not staff it internall. They looked to external companies to support their existing functionality as well as manage several project-based initiatives to keep their PIM running while growing their business.
The Solution:
Trailbreakers managed this opportunity by providing ad hoc resources that were highly versed in PIM deployments to perform the following tasks:
- Diagnose errors in feeds to and from upstream and downstream systems, manage new attribute requests and attribute changes, and document the existing structure and integrations to stabalize the environments.
- Create new outputs for reporting for users to support both new item creation processes and ongoing maintenance of the platform.
- Build new outputs to systems, including mapping the attribution to the downstream system’s data model, as well as support function building to support the project from a data requirements perspective.
- Provide education and direction on cleanup of the environment to support long-term stability and growth without dependancies on technical resources or new full-time employees.
The Results:
Multiple projects, both for new product releases and new service offerings, launched on-time with the correct data feeds to make them function appropriately. The system is currently stable, mostly self-sufficient, and users have taken on new projects without needing external assistance. The new reporting catches errors in the system immediately instead of reactively to downstream system issues, and more automation within the system has reduced the need for manual interventions.
